There's serenity at the bottom of the lake
Where waves don't crash and beasts don't wake
Where the sun can't find you and no longer burns
The snow can't reach your numbing nerves

There's sanity at the bottom of a cliff
Where the earth will hold you so you won't lose your grip
Reaching rock bottom with nowhere else to go
At least you can't fall
Once you've hit
The solid ground

There's serenity at the bottom of a glass
Where the cars dance around you tempting the crash
The lines can't find their way to your dreams
And you cease to be woken by the shrill of your screams
