Save

And god said
Where were you?
You've disappeared from my line of sight.
I always came to your rescue.
She replied I'm not stumbling anymore.
I haven't needed you to save me.
And god said
I needed to save you to save me,
To distract me from this world.
What happened to my creation?
How did flesh become these plastic figurines?
I do not recognize them.
They are not in my image, but strange things.
Lost and losing hope, I still long to save them.
But they don't think they need saving.
And I watch with downcast spirit and subsiding passion
As my extended hand falls limp once again.
