Saying Goodbye

A little bird is broken
She lies upon a sheet
Her nest is full of feathers
The rise and fall is sleep

Her feeble wings are delicate
Her body is frightfully thin
With the memories of better things
She stirs she murmurs she sings

Her hair is sparse and wispy
Her skin is transparently thin
Her eyes are bare of covers
She stirs she murmurs she sings

Her appetite has abated
She hears a voice within
The little bird has broken
With the memories of better things
