Scarlet Heart

the flying embers
imbed themselves in my heart
from the broken and cut timbers
that were ripped apart
-
enveloping my soul
in red and orange tongues
soon they will take their toll
smoke filling my lungs
-
and so the wood burns
deep in my body
as I will learn
to be the facade I embody

the fire sears my once scarlet heart
now blacked with the ashes from the hearth
