Screams of silence

You see the bruises and yet you look on.
You hear the yelling next door,
you tell yourself “it’s nothing” and just go to sleep.
Why do you choose to ignore what is so clear?
The sunglasses inside.
Long sleeves when it’s 98.
They say it’s none of their business.
Don’t turn away.

Can’t you hear the screams of silence?
