Seasons of Change

Apple orchards, river walks, corn maze
The scenic drive along the river--
Gorgeous colors changing

Beautiful leaves flipping, carefree in the wind
Animals gather food, scurry about
Hayrides, picking pumpkins

As leaves fall from the trees,
The air fills with scent of crisp leaves
Autumn leads us to colder weather--darker days

This Poems Story

I am currently a student at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, majoring in accounting. The area of learning that has been the most difficult for me has been writing. I had an opportunity to take a poetry class to help face my fear of writing. My instructor introduced numerous forms of poetry and creative writing through a workshop setting. She had more confidence in my writing than I had in myself. The inspiration to write this autumn poem came from this class and my professor who taught me how to write about a wonderful experience in my life.
