Second Chance

I watched from above
As the doctors worked hard
Trying to save that man from
What looked like certain death.

I saw them shoot him up with drugs
And then search the monitors for any good sign.
They worked frantically together
Trying to keep his heart pumping.

As I watched I wondered
Why they could not hear me
Or know I was in there cheering them on
To save that man's life.

I felt a presence around me.
When I looked over my shoulder
I saw an angel smiling at me
And then I heard him say,

John, it is not your time to die.
You have more work to do on Earth.
He reached out and touched my shoulder.
That's when I finally realized
That man on the table was me.
