Secrets

Hide inside from the world
Just like you've always known.
Keep quiet now,
And never let it slip.

The darkness feels so sweet
With the secrets you can never tell.
Fool yourself into believing
That they are heavy burdens you so
Selfishly shove to onto everyone else.

And the rain falls down as you sit there
Alone, afraid, and abandoned.
It only becomes heavier the longer you hold it in.

But that is not who you are.
You are not defined by the wars that rage in your head.
You are more than the noise you beg to be turned off.

Even in the thickest darkness there is light.
In the lonliest moments, look up.
There is always hope.
