Seed of the Silphium

Starting out as just a seed
Eventually every man's need
You'll grow out from the ground
Growing slow, without a sound
Starting out so small and thin
But as roots take filling in
With proper care, growing strong
Enduring storms, lasting long
Forces try to tear apart
With no luck, too strong of heart
When times come bleak and cold
You shelter me with heat and hold
When life's heat tries to burn me down
You shade, protect, and wrap around
Stand strong by me, never moving
Through nature's battles, always proving
That no matter what we face
You'll always be in that place
Of when and where I need you most
Rooted to me, so very close
