Self-Empowered Independent Woman

By Erdilla

I used to think I needed a man,

To empower me, to tell me that I "can"

I soon learned that a man cannot empower me, or take away my fears.

Men lead only to heartbreak and tears.

I am now self empowered, an independent woman.

Men used to talk down to me, treating me like a child,

Men controlled me, when I tried to break away they beat me, they went wild.

I soon learned that men are incapable of love,

I am now self-empowered, an independent woman.

I used to be in love with an awful boy,

He objectified me, saw me as a toy.

Rape, divorce, and heartbreak all come from men,

I'll never love another one again.

Romance is for the insecure and weak,

Never again will I be so meek.

I am now self-empowered, an independent woman.
