September Sonnet

By Alana

This room was filled with monday chatter

Where happy children once have laughed and played

When every person used to matter

And extended friendships were always made

The long days have always ended with sweets

And each juvenile child would say goodbye

Give hearty hugs and each put up their seats

And all the forlorn tears will end and dry

If only this ruined fire hasn’t started

Right before exiting the broken door

The small children have cruelly departed

No one heard cheerful laughter anymore

Every lonely person shall remember

What happened in the month of September
