February 14 was a day to express
Many people did but one in particular lead to distress
A day of love and care all changed with a boom
Many blood-curdling screams filled the room

Shocked with horror, they started to cry
Those seventeen people never got to say goodbye
Those seventeen people weren’t supposed to die
Those seventeen people had friends to stand by

Seventeen families left devastated
Seventeen rooms were left vacated
Seventeen plus 2 years he was his own dictated supporter
Charged with seventeen accounts of premeditated murder

Physically perturbed, mentally disturbed
Nikolas Cruz was an enemy preferred
Many didn’t know how much of him was a stark man
Not until the day shots were fired at Parkland

Now those seventeen angels look down and see
The determination and fight in their families
That AR-15 rifle should have been the unattended machine
But for now, we recognize the loss of those seventeen.
