Shades of Blue

These roses so red
We feel "I love you"
the color of his eyes
like the skies, are light blue

The time is short
The work is hard
Horizons bright blue
and here we are

As the sun fades
True colors show through
I watch the bags pack
The sky, navy blue

And then the truth hurts
The familiarity you lack
Watching him leave
as the sky turns blue black

But you hold to a hope
one day he will miss you
and you stand waiting
for the sky to turn light blue

This Poems Story

I have been writing poetry since I was nineteen. I am currently twenty-seven years old and I am a full-time student at a college in Mississippi. I write poetry as a creative outlet in which I can express myself. I use it to work through hard times and to celebrate the good times in life. Most of all I hope that my writing inspires those who read it. I hope when someone reads my poetry that they find comfort in relating to the emotion I put into it when writng. Poetry is my therapy.
