Shades of Life

Creating a lilac purple
on days when my eyes are wide,
yet soft and sweet.
Illuminating a lilac purple,
with calm creases
from sugary smiles.
Dying for a lilac purple.
A color that fades into midnight blue
as the sun droops into dark night.
Weakening to a midnight blue
on days when my eyes are dismal,
dark and dreary.
Embellished with a midnight blue,
a faltering face
from teeming thoughts.
Rising from a midnight blue.
A color that doesn’t last long
as the moon sinks back to sleep.
