Shampoo Bottles

Boiling water burns my brackish back
Betrayal paints my body red with its hot searing blaze of broiling anger
Steam races down my face and masks the mirror so I cannot see my own reflection
Water drips, drops, dives down from the shower head as it hides my trickling tears
Soap stings my sad eyes, as though trying to squeeze out the images of isolation and loneliness that have been stitched into my mind
His words weaken my heart
I cannot walk away
His eyes destroy me
I cannot run away
His sharp voice pierces my skin
I try to break away
Shampoo bottles await, ready to burn my skin and scratch my eyes as I cripple to the floor and cry Water pours down on me like a storm of splashing waves
Salt water stings my eyes and hits the rough, unforgiving sand
