She Sits In Silence

Her hair has turned gray overnight
Her eyes weep the tears of so many wrongful years
Now the details of her life have faded away
She sits in silence with her head down
Are there any thoughts that run through her mind
When she walks her steps are slow and agile
No deliberate movements she just goes
Her children gather around her trying to get in
But she sits in silence with her head down
Her body has now deceived her
Forgotten who she used to be
Her hair has turned gray overnight
The lines on her face show all the stresses of her life
At times she looks up, we look into her vacant eyes
See us Mother, we are here by your side
She will leave us someday soon, for now
She sits in silence with her head down
Her hair has turned gray overnight
She has forgotten the wrongful years
I wish she could remember the faces of her children's youth
Leave knowing she has always been loved here
I pray the Lord takes her by hand to a promised land
Where she will remember the faces she has loved and have loved her
We will meet her there someday in the light of love
But for now she sits in silence with her head down
