She Walked Alone

She walked alone through valleys deep
Forever troubled in her sleep
By promises she did not keep
By memories that made her weep

For she preferred to live a life
That only brought her tears and strife
And though she was nobody's wife
Within her grew another life

She killed that life without much thought
Ignoring all that she'd been taught
For pleasure now was all she sought
But more despair was all she got

And in the midst of that despair
She finally turned to God in prayer
And when she found Him waiting there
She gave herself into His care

Now He guides her through valleys deep
Gives comfort when she cannot sleep
She knows His promises He'll keep
He took the guilt that made her weep
