she walks in beauty

she walks in the sun
all the beauty of the light
do moonbeams seem to ignite her sky?
enchanted trees and helpless paths
never could keep her from tossing her lasso around those
she walks in the beauty
of hopeful eyes and human acceptance
the kind only the mind can gift
pillows of satin and gold are nothing
without an imagination to make them known,
and the tinkle of crystal is nothing
if there is no admiration to hear it ding
she knew all these things and held them close
wrapped them up with ribbons and bows
each night she watched those cosmos gleam
and sang each tiny jewel home in a prayer laced with peace
