She Walks the Night

She walks the night, unseen, alone
Covered in dark she hides her tears
She walks afraid, her plight unknown
There is no one to calm her fears
With timid step, and quiet moan
She turns away, when someone jeers

In days long past, her hopes did spawn
She did look forward, like a bride
Now a memory, childhood gone
Her love unknown, her love denied
Time has fled, like a nervous fawn
And after long years, hope has died

In the dark, she awaits dawn's light
A lonely soul, with no mother
A fleeting glimpse, beyond her sight
She looks one way, and the other
Her smile brings pleasure, fear takes flight
She's not alone, there's another
