Sheets Between

The ice rode the roaring wind
Its ignorance feeds the blow
The frost that spread across his face
A frozen flame they seemed to show

As the white sky shone upon the barks
Blanketed in a coat of contempt
The paleness of my fluttering hem
The failures of futile attempts.

In the silence upon which the dead river flows,
A little green plant appeared through the snow
