Shellfishness and Greed

The world is our oyster
But our shell is cracked
It's filled with a substance
We need to give back

Back to the heavens
A most undesirable trait
One worse than pity
One worse than hate

Our oyster is dirty
In grime and in greed
And that prevents everyone from
Getting what they need

Why give to the poor
What we could use on ourselves?
God, the planet was more pleasant
When we were tucked inside our shells

At least there, beneath the darkness we stood
With nothing but the truth
And the smut and the overbearing rapacity
Couldn't get through

So I ask you, my family
And my friends
Who's ready for a lifestyle change?
Can I get an Amen?
