Shepherd of Deceit

His voice, a thread of woven mist,
A velvet lie in serpent’s twist.
With silver tongue and gilded guise,
He speaks the truth with hollow eyes.

A promise sung, a tale untrue,
A path adorned in borrowed blue.
His hand extends, his shadow sways,
Yet leads you deep in mirrored maze.

You chase, you trust, you stumble blind,
Each step unwinds the fraying mind.
And when you fall, the echo rings—
He never was, nor were his strings.

This Poems Story

Theme: Manipulation, false promises, the illusion of trust. Meaning: This poem portrays a deceiver, someone who leads others astray with charisma and half-truths. The “shepherd” symbolizes a guide, but instead of leading to safety, he ensnares people in illusions. It critiques blind trust, warning that not all who claim to lead have noble intentions. The final line reveals the ultimate deception that the deceiver himself was nothing more than a phantom.
