She’s a Princess

She’s a Princess
Ruling from a pillow fortress
Dressed in tootoos
And her mother’s shoes
Sipping tea with teddy bears
Free from any cares

She’s a Princess
In a crumbling castle
When the Jester steals the show
And no one knows
While the court tarries on
With all the must be done

She’s a Princess
From a sky scraping tower
Shrinking within the brick and mortar
The King and Queen are blind to her
They see the wall and assume the cue
They retire and do not break through

The walls erected
For her protection
But stand truer as a test
She longed to know if any of you
Cared enough to pursue
And rescue the Princess
