Shine On

By Da Poet

Birth place of the Underground Railroad is my home and cotton
fields I no longer roam. Master is gone, feel like I'm free, time to
rest my bones under this old oak tree. Born by a virgin, raised by
a Queen, a golden spoon in my mouth if you grasp what I mean?

Protected and guarded by the great outdoors, sheltered from the
outer world now and ever-more. Taught by scholars, I trained by
the tree, the tree of knowledge where not all can see. Tamed by
emotions, now my mind is free.

My heart is my guide as my eyes translate, no wait, a formula
with prescribed ingredients is what's needed to be great. Shine
on blessed one, shine on.
