Shooting Stars

Shooting stars appear for a moment,
then abruptly fade away,
We are left with just the memory,
that only our minds can portray.

You left my life so quickly,
and became my shooting star,
It's been so hard without you here,
my heart is branded with a scar.

I know we'll meet again one day,
and you can mend this broken heart,
I'll have time to get to know you,
and we'll never have to part.

I'll tell you about my life,
and all the experiences I've had,
I can't wait to see you again,
my one and only Dad.
