Short Soliloquy from a Lost Man

I do not know what light bores life
Nor do I know how stars could shine
But what I do know is fear gives fright
And bereaved is more than blight
Down the road of life I fumble
Without a name I am humble
And in poverty nights I tremble
By the lure of green and gold I crumble
No one is there for me to hold
Hope flee and despair is behold
Inside my heart it has always been cold
But what more can I say with a deserted billfold
In his arms I rest like a sinner
Though deep down I know I would never be cleaner
Still I need to retain my demeanor
And act benevolent though my soul be sinister
