Siege

“Siege”

The war started long ago,

So long now it is as a dream.

So long ago like long forgotten snow

Which runs down from the mountains fair and tall

I remember the days of old, ah those bright days

When every man had not a care in the world

Yet now even the memory fades away like long forgotten snow

Which runs down from the mountains fair and tall

Arrows! A man shouts just in time

As I duck behind the wall, as the volley passes o’re head

This life, what is its purpose? To fight with your life or lose it.

Oh, how much I yearn for the days of old to return

Yet now, one small hope remains

With this hope, skill with blade or bow means nothing

Without the fierce determination to win those old days back

The old days, their memory, though faint was our advantage over the enemy

Thus, through the diligence and determination of the soldiers

The battle won and victory celebrated for a year and a day

Yet again the times of old were restored and the land prospered

And was no longer a memory like long forgotten snow

That Runs Down From The Mountains Fair And Tall!
