Silence

People really be testing me these days, then later asking if I’m okay.
I keep my mouth shut, not telling what I want to say.
I keep my emotions at bay.
The sparks inevitably will light the flame.
Their snarky remarks will be to blame.
They don’t got a clue about the pain.
Their words echoing through my brain.
They assume I am senseless but I’m definitely not defenseless!
My walls are holding up.
I am slowly giving up.
How much more can I put up.
Oh how I would love to go off and ignite.
I could bark back but I’d rather bite; and that would be an unfair fight!
I am going to continue on with my life.
I am going to soar above them like a kite.
Till they wave their flags high up in the air showing white.
They see me shining bright and now they’ve lost their sight.
