Silenced

I hear you in the hallway every now and then.
I ignore the thought because I know where you are.
He'll be in your heart they say.
It's more than that.
He is here but in a different form,
A silenced form.
He watches with wide eyes and an open mind
but a mouth that is glued shut and an appearance
that is unseen.
Your absence from earth has affected many,
Myself included.
I have a constant taste of sorry on my tongue,
but no amount of sorry will bring you back.
Weeks have gone by,
Things are back to normal.
But I still live with deep regret.
Looking through our past,
I know you know.
For those hiding their despair,
You hear them too.
