Silent in a World of Sound

The sound of life surrounds me
It fills my very soul with song and laughter
I jump and dance as loved ones watch
Every day is a chance to dance once more
Surrounded fully with music and nature
The leaves fall slowly to the ground
My mother's whisper, my father's chuckle
I smile at them as they lavish me with love
My brother, my sister they are my kindred spirits
Never could we have seen the silence that was to come

Where sound once lived within my world
I am now surrounded in silence
Familiar voices have now gone away
Lost within the memories of music, nature and song
Though in a crowd, alone I sit forever trapped
I long to feel the sound vibrate through my soul once more
The sweet notes of music and the gentle rustle of leaves
Where once I was enigmatic and full of joy and song
Stolen from me now I sit silent in a world of sound
Trying to find the new cadence of my soul
