Silent Stewards

As we dance lightly upon the earth,
Looking down into the canyon's abyss
Trying to comprehend creation's power
While we ponder the unusual tryst

Between the animals roaming the land
Birds and insects flying in the air,
Fish swimming in the waters below
Endangered species calling, "Please care!"

You are entrusted with our future,
It is upon your shoulders, you see
The future of the Planet Earth
Is one filled with responsibility.

You carry the burden of liability
You are yoked with the burden of truth
To make sure clean air, water and land
Are understood by the aged and youth.

Nature never withholds its beauty
Nature never stifles its song
But we, as stewards of the earth,
Have been silent far too long.
