Silver in the Sky

Luna’s light slips between her fingers
The sanded breath
Illuminating the trees
Hold your composure
Lest her light be full
Lest your lungs fill with the sand
And your eyes with the rain
The smog blows weakly
You catch the scent of damp dirt
In the brisk darkness
Lives the urgency of fear
You hear the soul of nature
You hear it all
Your heartbeat intertwines with that of your world
You are no longer your own
Between your teeth
Your sanity returns
A metallic taste
Sweet and sour
Clarity becomes cloudy
And it becomes perfectly sweet
Sweetness drips between your fur and floods your lips
Now you’ll run
Lest sweetness chase you till you succumb
And remain this way when the day breaks
