Silver Spirit

I feel my branches filling out
my green tendrils becoming wood
try to find my silver spirit
to chase off this rough adulthood

try to remember how you were
how truly brilliant were those days
is your shine true, silver spirit
or have the years put on a glaze

I'll put my hat in with the rest
my name put on some boring list
they all say that it's for the best
if i pretend you don't exist

but even in my best disguise
silver spirit, I'll always have your eyes
