Simple Deflagration

Days slipped by, not a word nor a whisper;
ensnared in his prison, shackled by doubt.
Scents of her image couldn’t be crisper,
mere hours displaced, though their time had run out.
How can he figure why love danced away?
Euphoric sensations present for one.
Her beauty looks back, no desire to stay;
wax in his wings, flown too close to the sun.
His eyes ecstatic, they burst out a sigh.
She saw facade; a life soaked in sorrow.
Falling too hard from a distance too high;
this pair of souls would share no tomorrow.
She traveled quickly; he glanced at his gash.
No time to reason, his romance was ash.
