Simple Things

By shae t

Oh, simple things
Where have you gone?
I seem to have lost you
Somewhere, Somehow

I look back, I reminisce
I see you everywhere I go
Riding bikes on the river path
Children’s laughter that fills the air
Checkers, charades, carousel
Ice cream shops all summer long
Camping in the backyard
Wishing upon a fallen star

I look back, I reminisce
I feel you in everything I touch
Flying kites high up in the sky
Raindrops on the window pane
Glistening dew in the early morn
Pillow fights on sleepless nights
Picking shells by the seashore
Rustling leaves in the autumn glow

Oh, simple things
Can we please talk?
I would like to reconnect
Somewhere, Somehow
