Sinners Confessing

FORGIVE ME, FATHER
In the eyes of truth stand quiet tears.
The fruits of the Spirit drop.
Arms hang empty.
Move into yourself and don't feel.
FORGIVE ME, FATHER
A hollow cry leaped from the dark, cavernous throat
and fell like an untamed wave,
crashing down cruelly against the Solid Rock.
Thus, perfection is stained with grief.
Rivulets of sorrow penetrate beyond where darkness lies,
crouched in the cave.
Oh, God!
So this is where loneliness remains
eternally illuminated.
FORGIVE ME, FATHER
For a moment it quivered expectantly,
then froze,
transparent, fixed in crystal
and suspended in a world of white silence.
Its clear-bell voice rang
only once...briefly...then became a muffled memory.
FORGIVE ME, FATHER
Confetti words swirl,
Dropping rainbow promises
Over which the foolish stoop to cup their hands.
