Six Little Letters

You never imagine you would miss six little letters.
When you feel bad they make you feel better.
Those letters are there through the highs and the lows.
Mine always told me the direction the wind blows.
You'll never understand why they do what they do,
But those letters always do what is best for you.
They may be harsh at times, but that never stays.
The letters are just teaching you in their own little ways.
So cherish those letters before they are gone,
Because regret will make it hard to move on.
I never imagined how much I'd miss those six little letters,
But with each day it gets better and better.
To say what I mean would take too long,
So I won't bother.
No one--and I mean no one--will ever understand,
How much I miss my father.
