Skipping Stones

The breeze flows through my own soul
Emptying out my unwanted emotion
My thoughts suddenly become dark as coal
While my brain stays in continuous motion
I stop beside the quicksilver river
I touch the frosty water and begin to shiver
Skipping stones releases sorrow
And thoughts of what might occur tomorrow
As my stones bounce above the stream
I think about my latest dream
I ponder my future and where it's headed
And imagine the mishaps I have regretted
Would life become better or worse
Or is the world in some type of curse
This is what I think of when I'm alone
Down by the river skipping stones
