Sleep

Wake up get up
Out of bed we get
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Coffee now we need caffeine
Our bodies still so tired
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Sleepy eyes and croaky voice
“It’s your turn dear,” you say
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

In the shower, holding baby
What will we do today?
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Feeding baby, head is bobbing
Try to stay awake
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Time is ticking oh so slow
The dark keeps creeping on
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Baby’s playing, my eyes are closing
A quick nap here and there
The baby’s up the sun’s asleep
The world makes not a peep.

Outside noises slowly rising
The world beings to stir
The sun is up the baby’s sleeping
And back to bed I’m creeping.

This Poems Story

My son has always been a very early riser. My husband and I are not morning people. This poem is how we got through the very early years.
