Slurp, slurp, slurp.
I looked on as the little girl
Suck her straw and draw out
Last bit of juice from the bottom of the glass.
I saw a woman stick out her finger
And lick the last bit of ice cream from the tub
I saw a man tilt his short glass
And drip the last of whiskey down his lips
I saw someone I know come out
of the beauty salon ( oh! A mirror!)
Dyeing their white hair,
Apply lotions to erase their wrinkles;
Inhale last dregs of youth
Before the butt falls off between the fingers.
