Smile

Ball gown
Bluer than the sky above
The waves behind
Rippled placidly
With more serenity
Than she held in her smile

Her ignorance was evidenced
Because she was still smiling
While his lips were pressed
To her forehead
The same lips
The same words
Would make her stop
Smiling
For years

In spite of his
Torn jeans
Old shoes
Long hair
Ripped tie

She still believed
He deserved to receive
Her smile
