Smithereens

I sat with closed eyes
Winds caressing my solemn face
Dreams all broken and shattered
Hope vanished without a trace
A single mistake could erase,
A million hundred things
A single second could define
The intensity of all sins
Perched on the tower that stood above
Below was an empty, hollow abyss
Dissolving the screams of pain unheard
Darkness had never felt so bright
And on the black colour above
Twinkled the glittering lights
Shattered smithereens of glass
That foretold it’s hindsight
Lay spread out on the floor naked
That withheld the hopes long died.
