Snowflakes

A leaf in the wind
The terrible but beautiful glimmer
Of a past life
The glinting of a snowflake
That you cannot see again
Unique in its design and shimmer
What if I told you
I have a
Photographic memory?
Those finite details
On constant repeat
I live inside of them
They are a comfort to me.
A recurring half dream
A cycle unbroken
As I seek that twinkling light
Over again.
It escapes me every time
Like sharp breaths on a mountain
Like the summer sun surely sets each night.
I look for you in every person that I touch
I yearn for you like the earth cries out for rain
I am in a desperate drought
And my heart cries out
For you.
