So He Sang

And so he sang
His voice cracked
Freeing himself was the aim

The eyes around him filled with disdain
With critical eyes this room was packed
And so he sang

His jaw locked and no sound came
It seemed courage he lacked
Freeing himself was the aim

They wanted him to feel shame
And prying eyes had him trapped
And so he sang

He knew the reason why he came
From the social constructs he had mapped
Freeing himself was the aim

Finally he puffed up his chest and said his name
He refused to remain capped
And so he sang
Freeing himself was the aim
