Socked

"Yes," she told her mother, "I know"
"I am careful"
"I won't rush"

And that was true
At first
Then you came
Snuck in uninvited
You took over
And you left your mark

Now they all know
With telling smirks at the gym
And feigned ignorance in their questions

Oh red sock
You will fool me only once
