Soldier Girl

Young boys off to become men
Not knowing they will never see their families again
Mothers saying goodbye to their sons
Knowing they could be gone with one shot of a gun
Sisters crying for their brothers
Wishing they could take the bullet while he's safe under the covers
The rage of war tearing families apart
Leaving loved ones to grieve with their never-healing hearts
Tears streaming down my eyes as I write this
As I watch the numbers mound on the casualty list
Trying to survive in today's war of a world
It's alright, I'll survive-I'll just take it like a soldier girl
