Somber Evolution

A black brisk touch, gliding, grabbing
Grave whispered thoughts
Etched into the legs of the dining room table
Sprawl to find your comfort dear
Drag yourself endlessly between the lines
Lay down your head, rest
Float, your lungs begin to fail
We are not the people we were
That time and house ago
Detest the scent, the sight, the feel
Forgive the vow not offered
Forgive the deceit and lust
That these floral dresses give
There you are
Standing in the corner of my mind
Hands so tightly grasped
My bones have sunk into your skin
Parading out the door we walk
With childlike bonded eyes
