Something Worse Than the Dark

I know what it's like to fear my own mind,
To see the terror behind a smile.
I've heard the echo, hollow and frank,
While into the gloom, I sank.

I am in darkness,
So darkness, I become -
Whilst wandering forests, black and deep,
Lost, in Eternal sleep.

I've met the monsters and ghosts alike,
That thrive within my soul.
They always win,
And so, I never lose -
Yes, I am in full control.

I desire those things
That destroy in the end,
A ship upon stormy sea -

I feared the dark before I learned
That the dark is afraid of me.
