Sometimes I Wish

Sometimes i wish i was a bird,
flapping my wings and free to fly.
But then i remembered,
birds do die.

Sometimes i wish i was an angel,
Dancing around retracting sorrows ,
but then i remembered,
Halos can be crooked.

Sometimes i wish i was like wind,
singing and swinging to my pleasure,
but then i remembered,
the wind does howl.

Sometimes i wish i was the sky,
More beautiful and larger than the rest,
but then i remembered,
Rain does fall.

Sometimes i wish i was a star,
Shining bright and courageous,
but then i remembered,
stars are said to be the eyes of the dead.

Sometimes i wish i was the sun,
Stronger and fiercer than everything,
But then i remembered,
Night does fall.

Sometimes i wish i was a book,
crisp pages and a story to tell,
But then i remembered,
not all stories have happy endings.

Sometimes i wish i was a princess,
wearing that crown and standing tall,
but then i remembered,
glass slippers tend to break.

Sometimes i wish i was a peacock,
Wearing my pride behind my back,
but then i remembered,
Colourful feathers wouldn’t cut me any slack.

Sometimes i wish i was the earth,
Full of joy and filled with mysterious places,
But then i remembered,
people are alive.

This Poems Story

My poem centres around the fact that not everything is perfect. In fact, nothing can be perfect. Everyone has flaws, however, this does not mean that we don't learn to accept them. In fact, we could do more. We all should be able to embrace each and every one of our flaws because at the end of the day, it is these flaws that make us different, and make us who we are.
