Soulight


We bequeathed earth to them
Vanguards of humanity we named them
Honors bestowed upon them
Pugnacious insolents they became
A sanguine being I remained
Indeed, souls never leave their home
Without a floral touch of hope

This poem was inspired from an incident that occured in Morocco last year, where a fisherman named Mohssin Firkri was crashed to death in a garbage truck, after the police confiscated and destroyed his belongings. Police abuse has been going on for years here in Morocco, so with this poem, I hoped to shed light on the matter, and send my deepest prayers to Mohssin
